AF Lighting Table LampHello loyal readers… Sorry I haven’t been around much, I’ve just been really busy with the holidays and all… Well I’m back and ready to roll. I hope you’re all not too deco’ed out after Christmas cuz I’ve got some cool stuff to show you and some new topics to discuss. But for today…….

I’ve got a new “Find Of The Week” for you! This week I thought I should let you all know about this funky table lamp I saw on sale for 75% off retail price!!! Ummm….. I’ll take 7! It’s by AF Lighting and you can find it here. I like that it’s not too in your face, yet it can definitely add some jazz to any room…

Ok well that’s all for today, but stay tuned…

Soaking It Up…

Posted December 20, 2006 * Comments(0)

It’s 39 degrees outside. The walk from your car to your house is enough to chill you to the bone… You scramble with your keys to get the door open while trying to get your hand to stop shaking from the cold… You grab a mug of hot cider and you’re trying to think of something to really warm you up… How about a nice hot bubble bath?

What better way to soak in some warmth and relax from all the holiday stress than taking a nice bath? Check out Bath and Body Works for their large selection of bubble baths and soaks. Next you might wanna put on some relaxing music or get yourself a good book to read. Grab your mug or for those a bit more melodramatic, grab a glass of wine… Set up some candles to enhance the mood, and you’re good to go.

For those of you who are not comfortable with your bathtub, let me tell you: there is hope for you yet! I too, suffered from CBS, also known as Cramped Bathtub Syndrome. The first step is to admit that you have a problem. Yes, your bathtub is small and uncomfortable and you hate cramming yourself into it. The next step is coming to the realization that you deserve better. What’s the point of having a tub if you never use it to take a bath in? It’s time to make a worthwhile investment that is sure to last you for years…

Kallista Archeo Copper BathtubHere are a couple of tubs I love and I think you’ll really enjoy. I threw in the last one just cuz I thought you’d get a kick out of it… First we have the Cheviot Regal Cast Iron Double Ended Tub With Cast Iron Pedestal Base. This gorgeous tub is 68″ x 31″ Wide and 24″ tall which is sure to give you lots of room, so no cramming necessary. Next we have the Kohler Revival 6′ Bath Whirlpool. This little baby is big enough for two people, and has adjustable hydro massage. I’ll leave the rest up to your imagination… Last but not least is the Aston Martin of all bathtubs, the Kallista Archeo Copper Bathtub, Bath Set, and Handshower. Might not be in your price range, but would definitely add some shine to any bathroom…

At the end of the day, no matter how cold it is outside, the warmth of a nice long bath is sure to relax you, rejuvenate you, and revive your spirits. So lay back and soak it up!

Christmas Is In The Air!

I’m sure you’re all busy doing last minute shopping and last minute decorating… This is my favorite time of year for home decor because of all the things you can do… Let your imagination run and you can turn your home into a winter wonderland or a glittering palace.

My friend Leslie was showing me pictures of how she decorated her home and I was so impressed that I thought I’d share the pictures with all of you. This woman has fabulous taste and it’s evident in her choice of decor. It’s all very festive, yet very pretty. Not a tacky thing in sight. Her color coordination is wonderful and matches the colors of her home. May G-d bless you all with the decorating style he bestowed Leslie!

So you’re not the best gift giver… In fact, when people tell you “oh you shouldn’t have”, they really mean it! Ok well not all of us have been blessed with that perfect-gift-picking sense… But don’t fret. If you’re still having a hard time figuring out what to buy for everyone, you can relax cuz I’ve put together a list of age appropriate gifts to give you some ideas…

For kids up to age 12, check out Toy Wishes’ list of this year’s 12 hottest toys. If your having trouble finding any of these toys in stock, try searching online and browsing eBay…

For teenagers, if they don’t already have one, Ipods are wonderful gifts. If you don’t want to spend that much, get them gift cards. For clothes, try American Eagle, Gap, or Banana Republic. If you’re not sure about the person’s clothing store preferences, get them a gift card to BestBuy or get a Visa Gift Card which can be used ANYWHERE Visa is accepted!

For college students (18 up to 24), gift cards to Barnes and Noble are great. So are movie passes, gift certificates for restaurants, or how about an Aerogrow Aerogarden for growing some fresh *cough* oregano *cough* right in their dorm rooms…

For women ages 25 - 50, a gift certificate for a day at the spa makes a fantastic gift! Depending on your budget, gift cards for handbags are also a good choice. Gift cards to stores like Macy’s or Bath and Body Works are also good choices and, depending on the type of person it’s for, you might even get away with a gift card for Target.

For men ages 25 - 50, gift cards to Sears or Home Depot are great for tool lovers. Try to think of what hobbies the guy has… like golf or baseball, and get gifts that are appropriate for that.

For anyone older than 50, think comfort. Foot massagers are great for achy feet and warm tea feels great on a cold winter day…

Here are a few more tips that should help even the worst gift givers out there:

  1. If it’s for your wife, diamonds really are a girl’s best friend so jewelry is almost ALWAYS the best choice, unless she specifically asked for something else.
  2. If it’s for your girlfriend, a diamond engagement ring is always anticipated around Christmas time… If you’re not ready to propose, then stay far away from jewelry of any kind. Just make sure whatever you get, it’s sappy and romantic.
  3. Never ever under any circumstances get ANYONE any kind of clothing.
  4. When in doubt, don’t buy it. If you’re really going nuts, just call the person up and ask them what they think of the item you’re considering buying.

All that said, good luck and try to have fun. Oh and don’t forget to get a little something for me….

Find Of The Week - 12/01/06

Faux Berry Garland

It’s time for my holiday find of the week… This week, I’ve chosen something that is subtle, but can make a big difference in your home decor. It’s a Faux Berry Garland from Williams-Sonoma. This delicate Garland is hand made and is very natural looking.

So you’re asking yourself “ok it’s nice, but what the heck do I need it for”? Well for starters, you want to decorate your home for the holidays. And you do NOT want to endoup with a tacky display that will put you to shame when the Johnsons come over for dinner next week… Well this garland is a fantastic way of adding a nice touch of color withut overdoing it. It’s wire is very flexible so you can basically do anything you want with it. I would recommend weaving it around the picture frames and candles and stuff on your mantle, or using it as a finishing touch on your centerpiece for the table. It’s basically a fail proof way of decorating. And as far as the other decorations go, remember, NOOO plastic Santa please unless he’s on the roof!

Till next week………
